Leaders of the Garment Sramik Front at a protest rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Friday demanded release of its general secretary Selim Mahmud and others garment labour leaders immediately.

Selim Mahmud was arrested by joint forces at his Fatulla house in Narayanganj on Tuesday night.


President of Socialist Labour Front Razequzzaman Ratan said that joint forces had arrested garment labour leader Selim Mahmud in a case field by Robintex garment owners for leading movements of the workers.

He demanded immediate release of Selim and others three garment labour leaders of Robintex situated in Fatullah.

Labour leaders Ahsan Habib Bulbul and Khalequzzaman Lipon, among others, spoke at the rally, which was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
