
Students of Dhaka College and Dhaka City College were locked in a clash again on Tuesday morning, reportedly over a Facebook post.
Witnesses said that Dhaka College students attacked City College students and beat them at about 11:30am.
They said that the City College students gathered and they were locked in a clash with them but police took position at that time.
New Market police station officer-in-charge Md Mohsin Uddin told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that it had become a routine for the students of these two colleges.
At about 12:45pm, several hundred students of Dhaka City College moved towards Dhaka College with sticks and brickbats and police dispersed the crowd charging batons.
A tense situation was prevailing in the nearby areas.
While talking to reporters at the Science Laboratory crossing, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ramna Division deputy commissioner Masud Alam said that some youths joined in the clash and they did not have City College uniform.
‘We are looking into the matter whether any third party was involved in the incident,’ he said.
DC Ramna Masud claimed that 15 to 20 police personnel sustained injuries in an attempt to bring the situation under control.
‘We did not detain anyone as they are students. We tried to disperse them to avoid further clash,’
