
A fire gutted three shops at Krishi Market in the capital鈥檚 Mohammadpur area on early Monday.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, the fire started at a shop on late Sunday and soon spread to two adjacent shops.
Lima Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters control room, said they were informed about the fire at about 1:50am.
Five fire-fighting units rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control by 2:50am and the fire was completely doused around 4:30am, she added.
Fasiuddin, senior station officer at Mohammadpur Fire Station, said the cause of the fire could not be determined immediately.
No casualties were reported, he added.
The extent of damages is yet to be assessed.
