Miscreants, for the second time in slightly more than a month, fired gunshots at the office-cum-house of a real estate businessman on Sher Shah Suri Road in the capital’s Mohammadpur area on Monday afternoon.

One of the two miscreants wearing helmets got down from a motorbike and fired a shot at Chandrima Real Estate Private Limited director Monir Ahmed’s office-cum-house at about 2:20pm on Monday and then fled the scene, according to police and the relator.  Monir told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the miscreants came in front of his house on a motorbike and opened fire.

‘I did not receive any phone call from any group before the attack. None asked money from me as well,’ said Monir.

On March 24, three men at about 7:30pm fired gunshots at the personal office room of Monir Ahmed on the ground floor.

On March 22, a man claiming an associate of listed criminal Sanzidul Islam Emon called Monir Ahmed over phone and demanded Tk 50 lakh as Eid salami.

Mohammadpur police station officer-in-charge Ali Iftekhar Hasan said that they are yet to identify the attackers but assumed that the previous group might be behind the incident.

‘We are trying to trace the shooter and the biker,’ the OC said.

The building’s caretaker Md Zihadul Islam, 45, filed a case against three named and 7-8 unnamed people on March 26 over the March 24 incident.

The OC said that the Dhaka Metropolitan Police detective branch arrested a man and seized a motorbike in connection with the March 24 incident.
