A reckless batting put Bangladesh A team in trouble on the opening day of their first four-day game against Pakistan Shaheens (Pakistan A) at the Islamabad Club Ground on Tuesday.
Pacer Naseem Shah, who is trying to make a comeback in the Pakistan Test team, and Mir Hamza wreaked havoc on Bangladesh A as the visitors were bowled out for only 122 after electing to bat first.
Both of the pacers scalped three wickets apiece. Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the only to make some resistance, having scored 65 off 194, with the help of nine fours.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque, the two senior batters of the Bangladesh Test team, who took this match as a preparation platform for the upcoming Test series against Pakistan, made 14 and 11, respectively.
Rejaur Rahman Raja was the other one to reach double digits apart from the trio, scoring 10.
The toss was delayed for three hours due to rain, and only 46 overs were possible on day one. Mir Hamza drew the blood first, when he rattled the stump of opener Zakir Hasan for duck before Naseem came to the party.
Naseem took the prized scalps of Mominul and captain Anamul Haque, making Bangladesh three down for 53 runs.
However, despite Joy’s resistance, Bangladesh A kept losing wickets at regular intervals to being bowled out for a paltry total.
Before the bad light brought a premature end to the day, Pakistan reached 2-0 in two overs.
