
Tamim Iqbal smashed one of the quickest innings of his T20 career in a 15-over match that saw Chattogram getting over the line against Sylhet on the second day of the ongoing NCL T20 at the Outer ground in Sylhet on Thursday.聽
Both teams suffered heavy batting collapses, where Chattogram won by 12 runs. Batting first, they were 98-1 after eight overs after Tamim scored 65 off 35 at a strike rate of 196.97.
This was his third quickest in terms of balls faced where he scored at least 50 runs.聽
But Chattogram then slipped to 145-9, meaning they managed to add just 47 runs in the last 42 balls, losing eight wickets. Sylhet pacer Khaled Ahmed took 4-15 runs.聽
In reply, Taufiq Khan Tushar (76 off 36) lifted Sylhet to a commanding position of 93-3 in 8.2 overs despite losing the first three wickets for just 14.
But Sylhet fell short after a collapse of seven wickets for 40 runs. Spin duo Hasan Murad and Nayeem Hasan each took three for Chattogram.聽
In the other match of the morning, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Barishal, who were chasing 130, needed just three runs from the final three deliveries off Mehedi Hasan Rana with four wickets remaining.
But Barishal suffered three run-outs to be bundled out for 129.聽
Batting first, Khulna kept losing wickets at regular intervals as Barishal pacer Kamrul Islam claimed 4-23.
In reply, opener Abdul Mazid scored 51 off 53 for Barishal but couldn鈥檛 finish it off.聽
In the afternoon matches, Rangpur and Dhaka Metro eased past Dhaka and Rajshahi, respectively, to earn their second consecutive wins.聽
Rangpur were lifted to 140-5 in 20 overs at the outer ground after losing 41-4 thanks to Akbar Ali (28 off 22), Ariful Haque (45 off 39), and Anamul Haque鈥檚 (26 off 17) contributions.
Ariful and Anamul added 48 off 29 for the sixth wicket.聽
Dhaka鈥檚 chase lost its way despite two openers, Ashikur Rahman Shibli and Saif Hasan, giving them a solid start. After the DLS method was applied, their target was 134 from 17. They managed to score 112-9.聽
At the main ground, captain Naim Sheikh (43 off 23) and Tahjibul Islam (31 off 18) helped Dhaka Metro to post a competitive total of 162 in 20 overs.
Naim, with the help of his fellow opener Imranuzzaman (21 off 12), gave them a flying start of 61 in the first five overs.聽
Farhad Reza, who scored 60 off 35 while batting at seven, fought for Rajshahi but couldn鈥檛 get them over the line as he didn鈥檛 get the necessary help from the lower order.
Dhaka pacer Shohidul Islam captured 4-26 runs.聽
