
East Zone opener Dilara Dola registered her maiden first-class century on the opening day of their Women鈥檚 Bangladesh Cricket League second round match against Central Zone at the Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Thursday.
After Nigar Sultana Joty (153) and Farzana Haque Pinky (102), Dilara reached the milestone in women鈥檚 cricket, scoring 102 off 131 balls laced with eleven fours and two sixes.
Batting first, East lost opener Shompa for just two runs, then Dilara鈥檚 century and two sixty-plus knocks from Jannatul Ferdues (65) and Sharmin Supta (62) helped the side make a strong comeback.
Dilara added a record 154-run partnership with Jannatul, while Sharmin and Fahima Khatun (23) formed another 70-run stand to propel East to 316-8 before the bails were drawn.聽
Left-arm spinner Nahida Akter claimed three while Lata Mondol picked up two wickets for Central Zone.
In another match at the Bangla Trac Cricket Academy Ground, South Zone reached 51-2, still trailing by 187 runs at stumps.
Earlier in the day, South bowlers led by veteran Salma Khatun restricted North to 238 all out after opting to bowl first.
Salma grabbed 3-22 while Shanjida Akther Maghla (2-53) and Sultana Khatun (2-32) took two wickets apiece.
North Zone batters got off to a promising start but couldn鈥檛 capitalise on it. Only Misty Rani managed to score 47 runs, falling short of converting it into a half-century.
Captain Sobhana Mostary played 31 innings, and Ritu Moni (26) and Laboni Akter (25) contributed crucial runs.
Shamima Sultana and Rumana Ahmed were unbeaten at the crease on 30 and 8 runs, respectively.
