
Bangladesh booked their spot in the Super Six stage of the ICC Women鈥檚 Under-19 World Cup from Group D after an 18-run win over Scotland in their four-team group final at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval, Bangi, Malaysia, on Wednesday.
Bangladesh advanced to the Super Six stage, being second in the group, just behind Australia.
Bangladesh started their campaign with a five-wicket win over Nepal before suffering a two-wicket defeat to Australia.
Despite the loss, Scotland also confirmed their spot after Australia beat Nepal later in the day.
Sent in to bat first, Bangladesh scored 121 for 9 in 20 overs and restricted Scotland to 103 for 8 in the stipulated overs, with leg-spinner Anisa Akter Shova delivering an impressive spell of four for 25 in four overs.
Bangladesh captain Sumaiya Akter played a crucial role, hitting an unbeaten 29 off 36 balls, while Afia Ashima Era and Juairiya Ferdous contributed 21 and 20 runs, respectively.
In reply, Scotland鈥檚 Pippa Sproul played a gritty 43 off 41 deliveries, and captain Niamh Sheikh scored 22 runs off 32 balls, but their contributions could not help reach the chase.
Apart from Bangladesh, Australia and Nepal, England, the USA, and Ireland from Group B and South Africa, Nigeria, and New Zealand from Group C through to the Super Six stage, where 12 teams, split into equal halves, will compete for four semifinal spots.
