Anamul Haque smashed 149 off 143 balls as Gazi Group Cricketers beat Mohammedan Sporting Club by 65 runs at the BKSP-4 in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on Tuesday.
Sadikur Rahman (60) and Anamul put on a 141-run opening partnership after being asked to bat first by Mohammedan, and that laid a perfect foundation.
Anamul, who reached his fifty in 54 balls and his hundred in 122 balls, then added 98 runs for the fourth wicket in just 43 balls with Tofael Ahmed (63 off 29) before adding 52 with Shamsur Rahman for the third wicket as Gazi posted 336-5 in 50 overs.
Country’s premier pacer, Taskin Ahmed, conceded 107 runs from 10 overs for Mohammedan, which is the most expensive bowling in List-A cricket in Bangladesh.Â
Rony Talukdar (74 off 90) kept Mohammedan in the hunt as he added 72 off 63 and 80 off 102 with Tamim Iqbal (48 off 34) and Towhid Hridoy, respectively.
But after Rony’s dismissal, Mohammedan couldn’t put up a fight as they lost their last eight wickets for 111 runs and were all out for 271.
Pacer Abdul Gaffar Saqlain claimed four 4-59 for Gazi Group.
Najmul Hossain Shanto’s 101 off 108 led defending champions Abahani Limited beat Legends of Rupganj by four wickets to further strengthen their position at the top of the table.
Saif Hassan (67 off 103) and Mahmudul Hasan (58 off 54) helped Rupganj, who were sent into bat first, to amass 292-6 in 50 overs.
Abahani lost Parvez Hossain in the second delivery of the run chase, but a second-wicket partnership of 107 runs off 104 balls between Jishan Alam (43) and Shanto paved Abahani’s way.
Shanto, who got his first hundred in any form of cricket after 47 innings, added 50 and 48 runs with Mohammad Mithun and Mosaddek Hossain, respectively.
Shanto, though, couldn’t finish it off, but Mominul Haque (35 off 32) did that with the help of Mahfuzur Rabby (31 off 25) with eight balls remaining.
Prime Bank Cricket Club beat Dhanmondi Sports Club by 55 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the other match of the day.
The highest score of Prime Bank in the innings was 64 after they were asked to bat first, but still they crossed the 300-mark (308-5 in 50 overs).
Four batters reached fifty — Sabbir Hosan (50 off 70), Zakir Hasan (64 off 86), Irfan Shukkur (56 off 52), and Shamim Hossain (62 off 37) — to help Prime Bank to post a good total.
Shukkur and Shamim added 96 runs in just 63 balls.
Yasir Ali (46) and Fazle Mahmud (79) lifted Dhanmondi from a precarious position of 32-2 to 125. But none could follow their suits, as they were all out for 253 in the last over, despite Hasan Murad and Sunzamul Islam adding 41 runs for the last wicket.
