Abahani Limited Dhaka confirmed their semifinal berth in the ongoing ABG Bashundhara Federation Cup 2023-24 after they beat Fortis Football Club by 3-1 goals in the last quarterfinal match at the Bashundhara Kings Arena on Tuesday.
Mohammedan Sporting Club, Bashundhara Kings and Bangladesh Police Football Club are the other three teams to confirm their spots in the last four of the tournament.
On Tuesday, Abahani鈥檚 Saint Vincent forward Cornelius Stewart, Brazilian forward Washington Brandao and his compatriot Jonathan Fernandes scored one goal each for Abahani Limited who led the first half by 2-0 goals.
聽Stewart gave Abahani a deserving lead in the ninth minute of the match while Washington doubled the lead scoring the second goal for Abahani in the injury time of the first half.
Jonathan confirmed Abahani鈥檚 win after scoring his team鈥檚 third goal in the 79th minute before midfielder Sajed Hasan Jummon netted a lone consolation goal for Fortis in the injury time of the second half.
Abahani will now face Kings in the second semifinal on 14 May in Gopalganj while Police will face Mohammedan in the first semifinal in Munshiganj on 7 May. The final is slated for 21 May.
