World football governing body FIFA has recently imposed a fine of 15,000 Swiss Francs to the Bangladesh Football Federation over a security lapse during Bangladesh’s World Cup qualifying match against Australia at the Bashundara Kings Arena on June 6, revealed BFF general secretary Emran Hossain Tushar on Sunday.
‘FIFA penalised 15,000 Swiss Francs when the match commissioner reported an unwanted encroachment by the audience into the playground during the match,’ Emran told reporters.
Bangladesh were previously fined twice by FIFA—11,250 Swiss Francs and 1400 Swiss Francs for crowd trouble—during matches against Lebanon and the Maldives on November 21, 2023, and October 17, 2022, both in World Cup qualifying matches at the Kings Arena.
