
Swadhin Bangla football Dal player Bimal Kar passed away at a city hospital on Thursday after suffering from old-age complications for a long time.
The war hero from Chattogram was 83.
Bimal, who was admitted to CMH a few days back, left behind his wife, three daughters, one son, and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death.
Bimal played for Azad Sporting Club before joining the Swadhin Bangla Football Dal that played matches across India to raise funds and awareness about Bangladesh鈥檚 freedom struggle in 1971.
Later he played for Victoria Spoting Club and served Chittagong Mohammedan Sporting Club and Chittagong Referees Association.
Bimal was given a guard of honour at the Bangladesh Football Federation premises before his funeral was held at the Rajarbag Kalibari Temple in the city on Thursday.
Apart from the BFF, several other sports organisations condoled his death through media releases.聽聽
