Defending champions Bashundhara Kings and Fortis Football Club moved closer to the quarter-finals of the Federation Cup with wins over their respective Group A rivals in two matches at separate venues across the country on Tuesday.

Last season鈥檚 treble winners, Kings, managed a hard-fought 3-2 win over Police Football Club at the Kings Arena in the city, while Fortis FC earned a comfortable 3-0 win against Dhaka Wanderers Club at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.


Kings, who lost to Fortis 2-0 in their last match, returned to winning ways with defender Topu Barman (sixth), Brazilian forward Miguel Damasceno (11th), and his compatriot Jonathan Fernandes (52nd) scoring one goal each while forward Al-Amin (seventh and 54th) pulled two goals back for Police.

In Cumilla, midfielder Joy Kumar (45th and 75th) scored a brace while forward Piash Ahmed Nova (89th) added another one to help Fortis maintain their unbeaten run in the 10-team tournament.

After playing three games each, Fortis remained at the top of the five-team group with seven points, followed by Kings with six points.

Fortis earlier played a goalless draw against Police FC before beating Kings, who defeated Brothers Union 1-0 in their first match.
