The interim government on Monday appointed former senior secretary M Aslam Alam as chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority.
The Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a circular in this regard on the day, saying that the order would be effective immediately.
Aslam was appointed on a contractual basis for a three-year term, or until he turns 68.
Earlier, Mohammad Jainul Bari resigned as chairman of the IDRA on September 5.
The development came after a month following the ousting of Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5 by a mass uprising. Jainul was made the IDRA chairman on June of 2022.
