Dhaka University students from the Faculty of Fine Art on Friday noon organised a concert programme titled ‘Banbhasider Pashe Bakultalar Gan’ to raise funds for flood victims in the south-eastern region of the country.

The two-day music programme commenced  on the premises of the fine art faculty, with performances by bands including Shironamhin, Sonar Bangla Circus, Apekkhik, Sorbonam, and the Fine Arts Music Group.


It was seen that there were booths set up on the Faculty of Fine Art premises to collect cash donations.

Additionally, clothes and other relief materials were also seen being collected for the flood victims. Volunteers were seen collecting donations from the audience with paper-made collection boxes.

Entering the Faculty of Fine Art gate, it was seen that a group of Fine Art students were drawing caricatures of people attending the concert to raise funds for flood relief near the gate.

Several visitors were also seen getting their caricatures drawn there.

One of them, Arshad Kabir, who came from Dhanmondi, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that he felt good about being able to contribute financially to the flood victims during this difficult time for the country.

‘I have also got a nice caricature drawn for me. I want to thank the organisers for putting together such a wonderful programme,’ he said.

Helal Shah, one of the organisers of this event and a former student of the department of drawing and painting,  said that they organised this musical event at Bakultala on the fine art faculty presmises to provide financial and relief assistance to the flood-affected people.

‘We have already delivered 1,600 relief materials to Feni, Noakhali, and Lakshmipur districts. Now our goal is to reach Khagrachari with relief supplies,’ he said.

He also said that they were getting a lot of support from people.

Along with musical performances, they are also raising funds by creating caricatures and selling paintings, he added.

On Saturday, the second day of the event, Joler gan, Meghdal, Highway, Kaktal, Ahmed Hasan Sunny, Baul, and Anan Siddika will perform at this program.
