Today is the tenth anniversary of the death of legendary Nazrul Sangeet singer Firoza Begum, who is regarded as the nightingale of Nazrul Sangeet for her contribution to the genre.
Born in Faridpur in 1926, Firoza Begum was stepped into the world of music at an early age. Although pursuing a career in music was not an easy op tion for her, she recorded an Islamic song for the HMV in 1942 under the supervision of Chitta Roy, an assistant of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
