
Ganosamhati Andolan, in a statement on Sunday, protested against the lynching of two construction workers, reportedly by a Hindu mob over an allegation of setting fire at a local temple in Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur on Friday.
The chief coordinator of the party Zonayed Saki and executive coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel, in a joint statement, protested against the killings of the two workers on suspicion of their involvement of setting fire at the temple.
In the statement, they said that when the state got involved in extrajudicial killings and patronised those, then culture of lynching had been created among its populations.
They also demanded fair investigation and exemplary punishment for the perpetrators, after identifying them.
According to the police, siblings Ashraful Khan, 20, and Arshadul Khan, 18, sons of Shahjahan Khan, a resident of Choperghat village of Nowapara union in the upazila, were killed in the mob beating and five others injured over the speculation of setting fire at the temple on Friday.
Later, the beating resulted clash between mob and police for hours, injuring 11 cops.
