The first death anniversary of former Oikya NAP president and freedom fighter Pankaj Bhattacharya was observed on Wednesday with various programmes.

The leaders of different political parties and socio-cultural organisations placed wreaths on the portrait of the leaders placed at the party’s central office at the Tennis Complex of Shahbagh in Dhaka.


After placing a wreath, Workers Party of Bangladesh president Rashed Khan Menon said that Pankaj Bhattacharya was a true politician who wanted to establish a non-communal democratic Bangladesh.

He called on the politicians to work to fulfill Pankaj’s unfinished works.

Pankaj Bhattachyria died at a hospital in Dhaka on this day at the age of 83. He had been suffering from old-age complications.
