The Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasod, a partner of the ruling Awami League led-alliance, on Sunday termed the proposed budget placed by the finance minister in the parliament as traditional and said that it would widen the gap between the rich and the poor.

The Jasod organised a review meeting of the proposed budget at the National Press Club where president Hasanul Haq Inu chaired.

Terming the proposed budget as traditional, Inu said that it would encourage looters.

He called on the government to take immediate measures for increasing revenue collections of the government.

Inu proposed to set up revenue offices in every upazila for collection of revenues.

Moazzem Hossain, director of Centre for Policy Dialogue, said that the proposed budget would increase disparity and favour the looters.

He also said that the government should take immediate measures for controlling inflation.

Otherwise, the common people will suffer more to run their families facing price hikes of the essential commodities, he added.

General secretary of the party Shirin Akhter said that the government should formulate such a budget which would reduce sufferings of the ordinary people.

Office secretary of the party, Shazzad Hossain, conducted the programme.
