Ruling Awami league general secretary Obaidul Quader said on Friday that prime minister sheikh Hasina had instructed the law enforcement agencies to handle the evil forces with iron hand.
He claimed that the agitating students returned home after the prime minister had offered talks in favour of meeting their demands but the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami were now conducting ‘destructive activities’ across the country. Â
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, came up with the remarks while addressing a rally after holding a ghayebana janaza in front of the party’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka at 4:00pm.
He also said that a section of people were spreading rumours that prime minister sheikh Hasina had left country but she never fled the country.
‘Sheikh Hasina will fight until death, but will never flee the country,’ he added.
Quader also said that the student movement was now in the grip of evil forces, who want to take revenge.
He urged the people to resist the evil forces with united efforts.
The Awami League held the rally after Dhaka Metropolitan Police relaxed a ban on all rallies and processions soon after it announced the ban on Friday.
AL Dhaka city south unit arranged the rally with the unit’s president Abu Ahmed Mannafi in the chair.
AL senior leaders Hasan Mahmud, Shajahan Khan, Mahabubul Alam Hanif, Bahauddin Nasim were among others present at the rally.
