President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Thursday formed the interim government led by Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus after taking opinions from the Supreme Court.

The apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan gave the opinions after the president sent a reference through the law ministry seeking its opinion.


The newly appointed attorney general, Md Asaduzzaman, told 抖阴精品 that the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court gave the opinion to form an interim government on Thursday.

Besides, Supreme Court administrative official Md Shafiqul Islam said on Friday in a media release that the president could seek an opinion from the Supreme Court under Article 106 of the constitution.

A letter was sent from the law ministry on Thursday seeking opinion from the Appellate Division to form the interim government, it said.

The Appellate Division gave opinion that the interim government could be formed to manage the executive functions of the state in the current situation as there was no parliament now and the prime minister earlier resigned from the office, said the release.

The Appellate Division also gave an opinion that the president could appoint a chief adviser along with other advisers to the interim government and administer the oath of the advisers, including the chief adviser, it added.

Earlier on Thursday, president Shahabuddin formed the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus and administered oaths to its advisers.

On Wednesday, the judicial functions of both the High Court and the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court were suspended until further notice.
