The central committee of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD in a statement on Friday termed the murder charges against several of its leaders and activists, including its president Hasanul Haq Inu, related to the killings in the quota reform movement, ‘illegal and illogical’.
These murder charges were imposed on its leaders and activists, including Inu and Sylhet district president Lokman Ahmed, the statement said, adding that the killings were carried out by law enforcement officers, including the police, and the ousted Sheikh Hasina government-favoured terrorists through gunfire during the student-led protest. Â
Noting that ‘the murder cases are not legal, verified, or logical’, the statement called on the interim government to settle the charges through investigations following proper legal process.
The statement, signed by office secretary Sajjad Hossain, also urged the government and law enforcement agencies to conduct a preliminary investigation before including the names of the JSD leaders and activists at any level in such murder cases.
