
The Rapid Action Battalion on Tuesday arrested an activist of Juba League, the youth wing of Awami League, allegedly for shooting at protesting students in the capital鈥檚 Uttara during the movement demanding quota reforms in government jobs in July.
The arrestee is Delwar Hossain Rubel, 38.
RAB in a press release said that RAB-1 arrested Rubel at Tongi in Gazipur at about 4:30am on Tuesday.
RAB said that, during the preliminary interrogation, Rubel confessed to shooting at students with a pistol during the anti-quota protests in Uttara Sector 11.
RAB also said that the accused was handed over to the police station concerned.
Uttara West police station officer-in-charge Md Hazfizur Rahman said that Rubel was a member of Juba League.
