The Islami Andolan Bangladesh on Friday staged a demonstration in Dhaka protesting at derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by Indian priest Ramgiri Maharaj and support for the remarks from Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nitesh Narayan Rane.

The IAB Dhaka city unit organised a short rally and held a mass procession after jumma prayers at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram in Dhaka.

They also protested at attacks by Israelis on Muslim countries in the Middle East, including Palestine and Lebanon, urging Muslim nations to be united.

Before the procession, the IAB leaders and activists held a rally where speakers demanded an immediate end to Israel’s killing spree and urged India to ensure punishment for derogatory remarks on the prophet.

Addressing the rally, IAB senior presidium member Syed Mosaddeq Billah said that India had always taken a stand against the Muslims.

Indian priest Ramgiri Maharaj made derogatory remarks on Hazrat Muhammad that caused bleeding in the hearts of the Muslims across the world, he added.

He also said that the fire of protest of the Muslims would not be extinguished until the priest was arrested and punished by the Indian government.

He said, ‘India’s Modi government has made many anti-national deals by supporting Hasina. In return, India killed us on the border, breached dams in the monsoon season, and drowned us.’

‘All the agreements made with India should be cancelled, and the Indian ambassador to Bangladesh should be summoned protesting at the incident,’ he added.

Thousands of activists of IAB participated in the procession, which after starting from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram ended at the Dainik Bangla intersection after parading the Purana Paltan crossing.

During the procession, the leaders and activists chanted various slogans against India and Israel and displayed placards.

Urging people to boycott Indian products, the leaders also demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in India for their derogatory remarks on the prophet and Islam.
