Dismissed lieutenant colonel Hasinur Rahman on Wednesday filed a complaint of enforced disappearance against 11 individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, with the International Crimes Tribunal.

Hasinur, who was decorated with gallantry award Bir Pratik as freedom fighter, alleged that he had been detained at a secret facility known as ‘Aynaghar’ on two occasions — one for 43 days during his service in March 2008 and another for 18 months in August 2018 after his dismissal from the army in 2012.


He alleged that in 2008, he was pressured to collaborate with Indian intelligence agency, and upon his refusal, became a victim of enforced disappearance.

He also alleged that his dismissal from the army in 2012 was linked to his vocal stance on the BDR mutiny.

‘This is a unique example of enforced disappearance during active service,’ Hasinur told reporters after filing the case, adding that at least 10 criminal cases have been filed against him over the years.

With the latest one, 39 ICT cases, include genocides and crimes against humanity charges, have so far been filed against Hasina and her cabinet members and associates while a scores of criminal cases, mostly for killings during the student-led uprising,  after Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country through student-led movement on August 5.
