
Bangladesh Nationalist Party acting chairperson Tarique Rahman and secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday extended their greetings to the Hindu community on the occasion of Durga Puja and Bijoya Dashami.
In his message, Tarique said that the festival grounds are open to all people irrespective of their religion, and any religious festival creates a close bond between people in which a feeling of sympathy and brotherhood is awakened.
He said that the BNP鈥檚 aim is to create a collective community 鈥榮hield鈥, setting a precedent for ensuring the safety of all individuals, regardless of their caste or creed.
鈥業 believe every Bangladeshi citizen must enjoy equal rights, freedoms, and protections without any distinction between Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, or Christian,鈥 he said.
鈥極ur country belongs to聽 all Bangladeshis, and as a united nation, we stand to form a collective 鈥渃ommunity shield鈥 and set an example by ensuring the safety of everyone, regardless of their identity or background,鈥 he said.
Extending warm greetings to all those celebrating the joyous Durga Puja and Bijoya Dashami, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in his message that any religious festival is a meeting place for all people in a nation-state, and BNP believes in religious freedom and values in the spirit and tradition of times.
He said, 鈥楧uring the period of the fallen Awami League government, communal incitement, various religious places of worship, and Hindu temples were repeatedly attacked and vandalised.鈥
鈥楴ow, the people of the country are united and guarding the Hindu community and temples to prevent the attack of the evil forces, as the Durga Puja can be completed smoothly through peace and coexistence,鈥 he said.
Destroyers of communal harmony are enemies of the country and humanity, and BNP is committed to resisting them, Fakhrul also added.
