
Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been admitted to United Hospital in Gulshan, Dhaka.
The news was confirmed by Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the party鈥檚 media wing, on Monday.
Fakhrul was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning based on the advice of doctors.
He has been placed in a cabin and he is in stable health.
Chief consultant of cardiology at United Hospital Professor NAM Momenuzzaman is overseeing Fakhrul鈥檚 treatment.
Accompanying Fakhrul at the hospital are his wife, Rahat Ara Begum, and their younger daughter, Mirza Safarukh.
The family has requested party leaders, activists, and supporters to refrain from crowding the hospital.
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, has been in regular contact with the party鈥檚 secretary general, seeking updates on his condition via telephone from London.
Doctors at the hospital have reported that Fakhrul鈥檚 sodium levels had dropped, and he was also experiencing difficulty breathing due to a buildup of mucus in his chest.
He was admitted for treatment, including various cardiac tests. His current condition is stable, and he is now recovering.
