Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki said on Saturday that the ousted Awami League should be tried as a party for carrying out massacre during the July uprising in 2024.
He demanded that the leaders of the AL who ordered the indiscriminate killing should be immediately brought to justice.
Saki raised the demands while addressing a discussion and iftar party, organised by Pabna district unit of Ganosamhati Andolan at a community centre in Pabna, said a press release.
He said that they did not find any significant progress in the trial of AL and its leaders even after seven months of the uprising that led to the fall of the authoritarian regime of Sheikh Hasina on August 5.
As a result, people were getting disappointed, Saki said, adding that results of the disappointment are being seen in various ways.
He also said that the Indian media wanted to show the world that Islamic militancy had risen in Bangladesh.
The mobs and attacks on shrines in the name of 鈥楾auhidi Janata鈥� do not work in favour of Bangladesh, but rather help Indian media to show what they want to show, said Saki.
Ganosamhati Andolan Pabna district unit convener Julhasnayeen Babu chaired the event, where Ganosamhati Andolan executive coordinator Abul Hassan Rubel was also present as chief guest.
