
The board of directors of the Chittagong Stock Exchange PLC elected AKM Habibur Rahman as chairman of the port city bourse in line with the Exchanges Demutualisation Act, 2013.
All independent directors and shareholder directors of the CSE elected him for the next three years at a board meeting held on Wednesday, said a CSE press release.
Habibur Rahman would replace Aisf Ibrahim as CSE chairman.
After resignation of all of the independent directors in August, the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission approved a list of seven independent directors.
As per the BSEC approval, Alamgir Morshed, Md Saiful Islam, AKM Habibur Rahman, Mahmud Hassan, M Zulfiquar Hussain, Naznin Sultana and Farida Yasmin were approved as independent directors of the CSE.
Among them, Alamgir Morshed regretted to accept the appointment as an independent director.
