Theatre troupe Anuswar staged its 11th production titled ‘Mahashunnaye Cycle’ depicting social alienation at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samity on Bailey Road in the capital on Monday.

The play ‘Mahashunnaye Cycle’, written by Shahaduz Zaman, has been directed by Saif Suman,.

The play revolves around a middle-age manager of a medicine company who feels alienated from his workplace, society and even his family.

He wrote a diary and travelled with an imaginary cycle to other planets. In his real life, alienated from his wife, he used to play with his son by phone calls while he acted as an unknown person.

The performance uses some popular Bangla songs to symbolise alienation of an individual in a capitalist society.

Members of Anuswar including S R Sompod, Mohammad Bari, Proshanta Halder, Nurujjaman Sarker, among others, played different characters in the play.

The stage was designed by Shakil Shidhartha, lighting by Amlan Biswas and music by Yusuf Hassan Arko while Mohsina Akhter designed costumes for the play.

Premiered on December 12, Anuswar staged eight consecutive shows on five days at the venue.
