Former Major General Ziaul Ahsan, who was relieved of his post in the army after the fall of Sheikh Hasina, was arrested on Friday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police in a press release said that Ziaul Ahsan, also former director general of National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre under the home ministry, was arrested in the early hours of Friday from the Khilkhet area in Dhaka in a murder case filed with the New Market police station.
A Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Wednesday placed deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina鈥檚 private industry and investment adviser Salman F Rahman and former law minister Anisul Huq on a 10-day remand in a case filed with the New Market police station over the killing of hawker Shahjahan Ali.
An assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said that Ziaul was arrested in the same case.
