Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Syed Jamil Ahmed at a view-change on Sunday said that the outcome brought about by the July-August uprising in the country must be utilised.

‘In this regard, everyone should be more dynamic and devoted. This requires everyone’s sincere cooperation,’ he said at the view-exchange between the newly appointed directors and officers, artists and employees of the academy at its National Art Gallery Auditorium in Dhaka on Sunday.


Presided over by the DG, the secretary of the academy Salahuddin Ahmed highlighted the current financial and structural condition, the overall activities, manpower, budget, infrastructure, various projects and administrative issues of the district and upazila Shilpakala Academy at the meeting.

The DG also mentioned that they were working towards implementing three agendas – bringing transparency in administration, transparency in financial matters and eliminating irregularities, and spreading cultural practices at the grassroots level by making the BSA and the district academies more active. 

Expressing their commitment to work transparently and responsibly according to the laws and regulations to speed up the activities of the academy, the new directors also said that they would work for the formation of discrimination-free Bangladesh on the basis of mutual amicable relations and the formation of action-oriented academy with the combination of new ideas and plans, said a press release.

The newly appointed directors are Mustafa Zaman (fine arts department), Faiz Zahir (drama and film department), Nava Mehjabeen Rahman (music, dance and recitation department), Tanzim Wahab (research and publication department), Abdul Halim Chanchal (production department) and AFM Nurur Rahman (training department).
