
A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed former law minister Anisul Huq and former food minister Qamrul Islam on fresh remand in two separate murder cases.
A Moulvibazar court, meanwhile, on the day placed former agriculture minister Abdus Shahid on one-day fresh remand in an explosive case.
The court put Anisul Huq on three-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Jannatul Ferdaus, 40, in the capital鈥檚 Shanir Akhra area on July 20 during the quota reform student movement that eventually ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Belal Hossain passed the order as police produced Huq before the court and pleaded to place him on seven-day remand.
On August 13, former minister Anisul Huq was arrested in the capital鈥檚 Sadarghat area while trying to flee the capital through the waterway.
The same court placed former food minister Qamrul Islam on four-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Khaled Hasan Saifullah in the Lalbagh area on July 18.
The police arrested the former minister at a house in the Uttara Sector-12 area on November 18. Earlier, he was placed on eight-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of trader Abdul Wadud.
The court also placed former Awami League lawmaker for Dhaka 7 constituency Solaiman Salim on seven-day remand in two separate cases filed over the killings of Rakib Hawlader and Khaled Hasan Saifullah during the quota reform student movement.
A team of Chawk Bazar police station arrested Solaiman Salim in the Gulshan area on November 14.
抖阴精品 correspondent in Moulvibazar reported that a Moulvibazar court placed former agriculture minister Md Abdus Shahid on one-day remand in a case filed under an explosive law in 2018.
Additional district and sessions judge Mohammad Khorshedul Alam Sikder passed the order.
On October 24, a person named Md Azad Mia filed the case with the Srimangal police station, alleging that miscreants attacked his supporters and vandalised a car by the order of Abdus Shahid on December 12, 2018.
Abdus Shahid was arrested in a special police operation at his house in Uttara Sector 10 on October 28.
