
At least two people sustained bullet injuries in a gunfight between two groups in Ulan Porabari area at Rampura in the capital Dhaka at about 9:30pm on Saturday.
Bullet-hit Mohamamd Jilani, 65, and Rakibul Hasan Shuvo, 17, were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital after one hour of the incident.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Faruk said that Jilani sustained bullet under his belly button and Shuvo sustained bullet above his right knee.
‘They are now undergoing treatment at the hospital. We have informed the matter to the police station concerned,’ he added.
Hatirjheel police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Raju said that they could not identify the two groups which were involved in the gunfight.
‘We are investigating the incident of gunfight,’ the OC added.
Jilani’s son Saiful Islam said that his father used to sell bananas in Ulan Porabari area.
‘When my father sustained bullet injuries, there was no electricity and the place was dark. We could not identify the people involved,’ Saiful said.
Shuvo’s mother Sathi Begum said that his son sustained bullet injuries when he went out to bring a cake for them.
‘We took Shuvo to the DMCH,’ she added.
