
At least four people were killed and 15 injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Tangail, Chuadanga and Habiganj between Saturday night and Sunday.
A construction worker was killed after being hit by a truck at Nandipara area of Sabujbagh in Dhaka on Sunday, reported the United News of Bangladesh.
The deceased was Md Zahid Mian, 22.
His brother-in-law, Riaz, said that Zahid was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s emergency department where doctors declared him dead.
Inspector Md Faruk of the DMCH police outpost said that Zahid’s body was kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported that an auto-rickshaw driver was killed as a tractor hit the rickshaw in Kalia area under Basail in Tangail on Sunday.
The deceased, Bappi, 25, was a resident of Sunya village in the upazila.
Jalal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Basail police station, said that the accident occurred on the Basail-Kauljani road when a tractor hit the auto-rickshaw from opposite direction, leaving Bappi injured.
He was taken to Basail Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries.
The ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· correspondent in Sylhet reported that 15 students were injured as a truck collided head-on with a bus, which was carrying madrassah students returning from a study tour, on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Shayestaganj in Habiganj on Sunday.
Shayestaganj highway police station OC ATM Mahmudul Haque said that the accident took place at around 9:30am.
He said that the injured students were recovered from the bus with the help of army, police and fire service personnel.
‘They have been admitted to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital,’ he said, adding that the bus was seized but the truck fled the scene.
The BSS also reported that two motorcyclists were killed on the spot when the bike hit a roadside standing tractor in Chuadanga on Saturday night.
The deceased, Nahid, 18, and Sweet, 25, hailed from Bastapur in the district.
They died on the spot at about 11.30pm, said Damurhuda model police station OC Humayun Kabir.
The police recovered the bodies and sent them to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he added.
