
Bangladesh interim government on Wednesday evening appointed Mahfuz Alam as adviser to information and broadcasting ministry.
Mahfuz was one of the key coordinators of the student-led mass uprising of July that ousted Sheikh Hasina鈥檚 autocratic regime on August 5, 2024.
Mahfuz will replace Mohammad Nahid Islam, another key coordinator of the uprising, who resigned from the advisory council on Tuesday.
Before his resignation, Nahid led the information and broadcasting ministry and posts, telecommunications and information technology ministry.
According to the press wing of the interim government鈥檚 chief adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus will take charge of posts, telecommunications and information technology ministry.
After the formation of the interim government on August 8, 2024, Mahfuz was appointed as special assistant to the chief adviser on 28 August.
Later, he took oath as an adviser on November 10.
Initially, he was not given charge of any particular ministry.
