The Bangladesh Army said that Magura鈥檚 eight-year-old rape victim鈥檚 life was at stake and urged countrymen to pray for her.
The child had suffered four times cardiac arrest in a day and now was undergoing treatment at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh Army shared the information on its verified Facebook page on early Thursday.
The widespread protests sparked on March 5 following the incident that took place while the child was visiting her sister鈥檚 in-laws鈥� house in Magura.
The countrywide protest against rape and violence against women continued for the fifth consecutive day till Wednesday.
鈥楾he child was made stable by giving CPR and dialysis had to be conducted due to the imbalance of salt in her blood,鈥� read the post.
The post also said that her blood pressure was 60/40 and it was going downward.
It said that CMH was trying their best to protect her life with modern treatment by forming a high level medical board comprising specialist physicians.聽
It also mentioned that the girl was admitted to the CMH at about 6:00pm on March 8 in a critical condition.
A Magura court on Monday midnight placed the main accused in a case over the rape of the eight-year-old child on a 7-day remand and three others on a 5-day remand each.
Those remanded are prime accused Hitu Sheikh, 50, father-in-law of the victim鈥檚 elder sister, his wife Zayeda Khatun, and their two sons 鈥� Sajib Sheikh and Ratul Sheikh, of village Nijnanduali in Magura Sadar upazila.
