A group of Dhaka University students on Sunday submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor’s office, urging the swift announcement of a road map for the long-overdue Dhaka University Central Students’ Union election.

The memorandum was handed over by Musaddiq Ali Ibne Mohammad on behalf of the students.

In the absence of VC Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, pro-vice-chancellor (administration) Professor Sayema Haque Bidisha received it.

In the memorandum, the students expressed frustration over the continued delay in announcing the DUCSU election roadmap.

‘It’s been nearly eight months since the uprising took place, yet no outline for the DUCSU election has been provided,’ it read.

They further stated that while initial statements in August suggested the election would be held within three to four months, no visible progress had been made.

‘Meanwhile, student union election road maps have already been announced at Rajshahi University and Jahangirnagar University,’ the memorandum noted.

Following the submission, the students held a brief rally where Musaddiq, a student of the department of Bangla, warned of escalating protests if their demands are not met.

‘We want to believe the administration will announce the DUCSU election road map without further delay. If not, we will be compelled to launch tougher movements,’ he said.
