Another victim of Gazipur cylinder blast died while undergoing treatment at National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka on early Tuesday, taking the death toll in the incident to two.

The victim, Taslima, 30, sustained serious burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in the Joydebpur area of Gazipur on Sunday night. She was five-month pregnant.  


Confirming her death, resident surgeon Shawon Bin Rahman said that Taslima had been receiving treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka after suffering serious burns and she died there at about 6:00am.

Earlier on Monday, another 30-year old woman, Sheema Akhter, who suffered serious burn injuries in the explosion, died at the same hospital.

Three other people — Parveen, 35, Tanjila, 10, and one-year-old Ayan — were also severely injured in the incident and they were in a critical condition.

The injured are now receiving treatment at the emergency department of the hospital.
