A 30-year old woman, who suffered serious burn injuries in a fire from a gas cylinder blast in Gazipur on Sunday night, died at National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka on Monday.

Shaon-bin-Rahman, resident medical officer on the institute, said Sheema Akther died from her injuries on Monday morning.


Four other people — Parveen, 35, Taslima, 30, Tanjila, 10, and one-year-old Ayan — were also severely injured in the incident and they were in a critical condition.

The injured are now receiving treatment at the emergency department of the hospital, he added.

Five members of the family sustained burn injuries after a gas cylinder exploded in Joydebpur area of Gazipur at about 10:45pm on Sunday.
