A Dhaka court on Saturday placed former chief whip and six-time Awami League lawmaker ASM Feroz on a three-day fresh remand in a murder case filed with the Badda police station.聽

The Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Saiful Islam passed the order as police produced him before the court, said Badda police station general recording officer Liakat Hossain.


Earlier on August 24, ASM Feroz was placed on a seven-day remand in a murder case filed with the Vatara聽 police station.

On August 23, Feroz was arrested in the capital鈥檚 Banani area.

Another Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court on Saturday sent private channel Ekattor TV former chief news editor Shakil Ahmed and his wife and former chief reporter Farzana Rupa to jail following their nine-day remand in police custody in two phases for two separate murder cases.

Denying their bail plea, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury ordered to send them to jail, confirmed Adabor police station inspector Mintu Chandra Banik, who produced them before the court.

Shakil Ahmed and Farzana Rupa were detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka as they allegedly tried to leave the country on August 21.

They were scheduled to depart from Dhaka airport at 6:20am via Turkish Airlines to Paris via Istanbul.

On August 8, Ekattor Television dismissed its head of news Shakil Ahmed and principal correspondent Farzana Rupa.
