The Supreme Court, the apex court of the country, will resume its judicial activities on Sunday after a month-long vacation, including the holidays of Eid-ul-Fitr.

However, during this time, judicial proceedings were conducted in several benches to hear and dispose of urgent cases in the High Court Division. In addition, urgent cases were heard and orders were issued in the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division.


Chief justice Syed Refaat Ahmed formed 48 benches in the High Court with specific judicial jurisdiction on Thursday.

From the Sunday, the High Court Division of the Supreme Court will hold trials in these 48 benches from 10:30am. Out of these 48 benches, there are 30 double benches and 18 single ones.

Newly appointed Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Farah Mahbub will be given felicitation on Sunday at the chief justice’s courtroom by the Supreme Court Bar and the attorney general’s office, court sources said.

The president appointed the two judges of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court to the Appellate Division on March 24.

The next day, on March 25, chief justice Syed Refaat Ahmed administered the oath to the two judges.
