Members of the Rapid Action Battalion on Friday night arrested two people, including the main accused, in a case filed on charge of beating a man to death for protesting at the stalking of his daughter in the Talaimari Shaheed Minar area in Rajshahi city on Wednesday night.

The arrested are Md Nantu, and Khokon Mia, both residents of Talaimari Shaheed Minar area in the city.


At a press conference on Saturday, RAB-5 commander Lieutenant Colonel Masud Pervez said that after a case was lodged with the Boalia Model Police Station on Thursday over beating bus driver Akram Hossain to death, they started a shadow investigation and arrested the duo named accused, including the prime accused Nantu, in Ram Raipurar area under Naogaon Sadar upazila on Friday night.

He said that during the primary interrogation, the duo confessed to their involvement in the killing.

Earlier, 55-year-old bus driver Akram Hossain, was beaten to death by a group of youths for protesting at the stalking of his daughter in the Talaimari Shaheed Minar area in Rajshahi city on Wednesday night.

Hasan Imam, son of the deceased, filed a murder case with the Boalia Model Police Station on Thursday noon against seven named and 4-5 unnamed people naming Nantu as the main accused.
