Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Friday said that a mild to moderate heatwave was sweeping over different parts of the country.

‘Mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Rajshahi division and the districts of Tangail, Manikgonj, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Jashore and Chuadanga and it may continue,’ said a BMD bulletin issued this morning commencing 9:00am.


Rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at one or two places over the Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, the BMD predicted.

The weather may remain mainly dry, with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere in the country.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The country’s maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded at 39.0 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi district in Rajshahi division and the minimum temperature today was recorded at 22.0 degrees Celsius at Tetulia in Rangpur division and Sylhet district in Sylhet division.

The sun sets today at 6:25pm and rises at 5:28am tomorrow in the capital.
