Rotary International Bangladesh country deputy coordinator and former governor of Rotary AKM Shamsul Huda at a programme in Dhaka on Sunday emphasised the continued commitment of Rotary to support destitute communities in Bangladesh and around the world.

Speaking at the programme organised by the Rotary Club of Dhaka Cosmopolitan in Dhaka on Sunday, Shamsul Huda highlighted the Rotary’s role in addressing humanitarian needs, said a press release on Monday.  


The event was presided over by the club president Mahmudul Hasan and addressed by former Rotary governor Ghulam Mustafa, Rotarian Rakib Sarder, Nurun Nesa Begum, Omor Sharif and Asish Kumar.

During the programme, Shamsul Huda presented special certificate to Rotarian Abul Khair Chowdhury in recognition of his contributions to enhancing Rotary’s public image.

Huda urged Rotarians and the wider community to actively support Rotary’s initiatives in poverty eradication, skill development for unemployed youth, and ensuring access to safe drinking water in rural areas.

As part of ongoing commitment to service, the programme also included the distribution of sewing machines to distressed women, donations to orphanages, and several other charitable initiatives.
