
Film artistes and various film organisations paid last respects to National film award-winning actress Anjana Rahman on the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation premises in Dhaka on Saturday.
Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association, Producers’ Association, Bangladesh Film Exhibitors’ Association, and Cinematographers’ Association, and actors Alamgir, Ujjal, Ilias Kanchan, Misha Sawdagar, Subrata, Ferdous Ahmed, Riaz, actress Nutan, Nasrin, Apu Biswas, and directors Chhatku Ahmed, Shahin Suman, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, Chayanika Chowdhury, producer Khorshed Alam Khosru, among others, paid last respects to Anjana on the BFDC premises.
The actress died while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka on Friday night.
She was 59.
Her fisrt namaz-e-janaza was held on the BFDC premises and second namz-e-janaza on Channel i premises. She was buried at the Banani Graveyard in the capital.
She had been on life support for the past three days. On December 24, she was admitted to a private hospital in the capital with a fever, reported the United News of Bangladesh.
Born on June 27, 1965 in Dhaka, Anjana was celebrated as one of the country’s finest actresses, particularly for her dancing skills.
The actress acted in more than 300 films in her illustrious career.
Her debut film was ‘Dashyu Banhur’, directed by Shamsuddin Togor, in 1976. But, her acting career began in 1976 with the film Setu, directed by Babul Chowdhury. Her breakthrough came with the film titled Matir Maya in 1976.
She starred alongside Razzak in 30 films, including Ashikshita, Rajanigandha, Ashar Alo, Jinjir, Anarkali, Bidhata, Bourani, Sonar Harin, Ram Rahim John, Matir Putul, Shaheb Bibi Golam, and Abhijan.
Anjana was married to producer-director Azizur Rahman Buli and acted in two of his films, Lalu Sardar and Nepali Meye. She received the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performances in Parineeta and Gangchill.
