Visiting United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi hoped that the international community would renew its focus to resolve the Rohingya crisis.

He expressed optimism that the UN conference, proposed by chief advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus would generate enough momentum for meaningful efforts from all.

Filippo Grandi said this in a meeting with foreign adviser Md Touhid Hossain at latter鈥檚 office, said a ministry鈥檚 press release on Thursday.

During the meeting, the foreign adviser thanked the high commissioner for his visit to Bangladesh and appreciated the continued support extended by the UN to the Rohingyas, sheltered in Bangladesh.

He highlighted the important role of the UNHCR and the international community in bringing a durable solution to the crisis.

Touhid also shared concern that failing to bring a lasting solution to the crisis would further destabilise the peace and security in the region.
