A month-long group art exhibition titled Art for Aid: Rebuilding Lives to raise funds for the flood victims in different parts of Bangladeshy began at the Cosmos Centre in the capital’s Malibagh on Thursday.

Organised by the Gallery Cosmos, the director of the gallery Tehmina Enayet, artist Biren Shome, photojournalist Nasir Ali Mamun, artist Farida Zaman, among others, were present on the inaugural day.  


Tehmina Enayet said that due to the havoc of the devastating flood the country was currently facing, they initiated the exhibition to raise funds from the artwork sales, which would be donated for the flood victims.

‘As the art connoisseurs, we always got support from these magnificent artists whenever we initiated this kind of activity,’ added Tehmina Enayet.

Biren Shome said, ‘Through events and creative initiatives, our artists can have a profound influence on society at pivotal moments. I am happy to be a part of this special exhibition.’

Most of the artworks of the exhibition depict the beautiful landscapes of the country. Besides, city life, flood-affected people, river, fishing, women and still life are also portrayed in the artworks.

The exhibition comprise paintings and prints of Kalidas Karmakar, Hamiduzzaman Khan, Biren Shome, Alakesh Ghosh, Abdus Shakoor Shah, Farida Zaman, Jamal Ahmed, Rokeya Sultana, Shishir Bhattacharjee, Ahmed Shamsuddoha, Sheikh Afzal Hossain, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Mohammad Iqbal, Anukul Mazumder, Maksuda Iqbal Nipa, Nazia Andaleeb Preema, Azmeer Hossain, Bishwajit Goswami, Abdullah Al Bashir, Sourav Chowdhury, Kamruzzoha, Shahanoor Mamun and Arif Bachchu.

The exhibition will end on October 5.
