A group art exhibition organised by Jolerdhara Fine Arts, an art institute, is underway at Gallery The Illusions at Lalmatia in the capital to mark the institute’s 14th founding anniversary.

The exhibition is featuring artworks by 90 renowned artists of the country and students of the institute.


The event titled Chitramela is displaying artworks, created by using different mediums, namely acrylic, charcoal, mixed media, ink, pen, watercolour and mixed medium on paper and canvas between 1979 and 2024.

Among others, artworks by renowned Bangladeshi artists Aminul Islam, Qayyum Chowdhury, Samarjit Roy Chowdhury, Hashem Khan, Rafiqun Nabi, Monirul Islam, Hamiduzzaman Khan, Abdus Shakoor, Biren Shome, Mohammad Iqbal along with contemporary artists Ashraful Hasan, Mintu Dey and Shohag Parvez have been displayed in the exhibition.

Ruksana Rahman, Tamanna Tabassum, Mushrafa Suha, Samiha Ahmed, Leonardo Sarker, Afra Gowhar Afia Shitol, among others, are student artists participating in the exhibition.

Jolerdhara Fine Arts started its journey with a watercolour workshop in 2010 which was directed by artist Biren Shome and coordinated by artist Shohag Parvez.

‘We started visiting Dhaka’s places including Sadarghat, Gabtali, the Turag River, the Zoo, Ramna Park, Panam Nagar for outdoor paintings. Now we arrange workshops and art trips in different places across the country,’ said director of the Jolerdhara Fine Arts, Shohag Parvez.  

The nine-day exhibition was jointly inaugurated by Hamiduzzaman Khan, Biren Shome, Ranjit Das and Jamal Ahmed on Friday.

The exhibition will end on October 12.Â
