
Police detained former planning minister MA Mannan from his home in Sunamganj district on Thursday night in connection with attack on protesters during mass upsurge led by students in August.
Sunamganj police superintendent AFM Anwar Hossain Khan told journalists that MA Mannan, also a former lawmaker and Awami League leader, was arrested from his house in the Shantiganj area at around 10pm.
He stated that the former minister was named in a case filed by one Hafiz Ahmed on September 2, following an attack on protesting students in Sunamganj on August 4.
Mannan is one of 99 people accused in the case.
